A boy mother takes him to visit his grandparents in upstate New York when the farm is swarmed with hordes of flies from swampland on an adjacent property forcing angry dysfunctional interactions among grandparents and mother that finally presents an opportunity for the boy to see his father, who is estranged from his mother and living in Alaska.
